Christmas 2013 Recap

While I’m sitting here, depressed that I’m at work, I can’t help but smile because I had such an amazing couple days off spending Christmas Eve and Christmas with my family and friends.

Christmas Eve

I woke up and headed out in the morning to take Angie’s Spinning class.

blog3I haven’t went to spin in a while and it was a nice, sweaty way to change things up! I forgot to wear my heart-rate monitor, which I was bummed about, but I bet I burned about 350 calories in the 50 minutes we rode.

Afterward, when I got home, I made Chocolate Shakeology for lunch!

blog4The rest of the afternoon was spent wrapping – there was so much to do still.

Dan came over and we hung out, drank Bloody Mary’s and relaxed with my family. Once he left, my family and I headed over to visit some family friends! We were home early and I crashed hard.

Christmas Day

I woke up at 7:30 to start making the breakfast casserole and coffee for everyone.

blog5In the casserole, I used:

  • 12 eggs (5 whole, 7 white)
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 zucchini
  • 1 green pepper
  • 2 slices honey ham
  • 1 potato shredded

Bake at 375 for 75 minutes.

It turned out better then I would have thought since I just winged it. Everyone enjoyed it with their coffee while opening gifts.

blog6As usual, it took us two hours to work our way through the pile of gifts. We like to take our time and open each gift one at a time. It’s how we’ve always done it. We spend so much time and money putting in the effort when buying them, so we might as well enjoy watching everything get opened!

Some highlights from ‘Santa’:

Two new workout outfits and tennis shoes:

blog2New boots, a ND wristlet and lace boxer shorts:

blog10There was so much more, but I pretty much took these pictures this morning as I was walking out the door for work. My mom had that wristlet made, isn’t it adorable?!

Dan and I opened gifts at my parent’s house and I couldn’t wait to give him his gifts. I got his gift (Diesel Watch) forever ago and it’s been so hard keeping it a secret, as well as, a Parkway Drive illustrated picture with lyrics from one of their songs.  I’m pretty sure he loved both.

He did a very good job for me and I am obsessed with everything. I’m wearing my new perfume today and am in love with it. I also have the watch on and my new wallet in my purse!!

blog1I love everything!

I’m so happy that I got 5 long days to spend with my brother and also got to see my grandma for a while, too!

Later in the day, we went to his parent’s house where all of his family was coming for dinner and a gift exchange. Oh man, dinner was so good! This was really the only meal I splurged on since everything looked so good.

blog8I had two of his dad’s homemade piergoies, a small scoop of cheesy potatoes, and two types of salad. I wish I had more pierogies right now!!

I called it a night early since I had to wake up for work today. Boo! Thankfully, Dan is meeting me shortly for lunch and then I’ll only have a few more hours to go.

Ok, time to wrap up, but first, I told you that I’d show you my dress for NYE….

blog45What do you think?!

I looked at several stores and online and just couldn’t find anything I liked, so I decided to rent the runway. Are you familiar?!

Basically, you pay to rent a dress that is from the runway. So this particular dress is Nicole Miller and retails at $400, but I paid $50 to simple rent it for this event. Isn’t that cool?! The best perk is that you order the size you think you’ll need and they send an additional size of your choosing, for FREE!

My dress is set to arrive tomorrow and I can’t wait to see it and try it on!!

I won’t be back for a week! I’m taking off to Cleveland with Dan to spend the next 6 days together. 🙂 I’ll be back with NYE pics and recap from the next week. I hope you have a wonderful New Year!!

What is your favorite gift from Christmas? Did you get new fitness gear? Do you have fun and crazy plans for NYE?!

I just got some new Nike Shox, what do you think of yours?

    • Lauren says:

I love Shox! It’s been my go to shoe for years. However, now with more crossfit type stuff, I find them to be too chunky. So, I like Nike Flex more for that kind of thing!
